the other best thing

The other day I talked about my family and how they're one of God's best gift to me. The other best gift are the friends that I have come to know over the years.

I know a lot of people but only a few I can really call friends and they are the best people you'll ever meet. At least to me they are. Whether in Miri or Kuching or KL or Penang or Australia or in Europe or in the States, even in Nigeria. Some of the of them I don't even keep in touch with that often because I'm bad at these things (need to improve here) but it does not mean I don't value the relationship. Trust me I do.

I just feel so grateful to God for letting all these things happen and for the times we have shared and continue to share even now and in the future, I pray for a richer, fuller more meaningful relationship as we all grow into parents and grandparents by God's grace.

Dear God thank you for all my friends, those who come into my life and have left their mark. Those who stay, those who are near and those afar. I pray you watch over them and keep them from the evil one. Let your face shine upon them. Bless their going out and coming in, bless them in the field and at home. Bless the work of their hands. Let their prayers rise to you like sweet smelling incense and hear them when they call upon your name. Thank you dear God. Amen.

there for me

The older we get the harder it becomes to ask for help because everything around us tells us that we should not need help, that we can handle whatever comes our way. Well the older i get, the more i need help and its hard to ask for it.

I think one of the greatest gifts that i have enjoyed in my life is the gift of friendship. I have enjoyed the company of many good, and many great people and their life continues to inspire me, encourage me and shape me. Friendships are a gift from God and its a privilege to enjoy true friendship, one that can keep you up all night because someone needs to talk, one that sits with you in the hospital bed, one that keeps believing you can change, that you have what it takes, that there's more to you life that what you know. True friends are a blessing.

A friend told me once, people need to be reminded more than they need to be instructed. And i think that simple things like letting your friends know that they can trust you, that you will be there for them, actually telling them that goes a long way, does more than we can imagine.

Right now i feel like telling my father how much he means to me. So yeah don't take your friends for granted. Have a great week :)

happy twenty something

This one's for a dear friend. In many ways i want to say thank you for living your life to the full, thank you for being a non-conformist, thank you for being a friend. Thank you for your generosity and how you can go the extra mile even though you don't have to.

I'll certainly miss you when you're gone but wish you the best in whatever you do. Take care my friend and happy birthday.

flesh wounds

I had one of those days. You know the type that starts well and then twards the end something happens that taints it. 

Today i felt deprived because i couldn't get what i wanted and i didnt go against good judgement. Like a child who wants everything they see but a good parent will not grant their child their every desire so sometimes deprivation is a good thing. Makes you value something once you have waited for it for so long.

Today i also felt left out. Was talking to my friend and she shared about her life and how things are moving on with her bf and there was that feeling again. But i have to say with all my heart there's nothing i love more than to see two people so in love, especially if they are my friends and if they have chosen right. By right i mean followed the bible.

Its interesting the alarming number of christians who think its ok to date people who are of a different faith when clearly the bible does not allow this things. They're just getting themselves up for disaster. That said not all such cases end in disaster but in my opinion its not worth the risk. A large percentage of your total happiness or misery in life comes from who you choose as your partner and for something that serious why are people taking it so lightly?

I sound like an old man who does not get the world, and about time too. Its about time i show my age. 

Anyways i'll say pray for your friends, dont let things happen to them when you can do something about it. Sometimes people dont know what they are doing and need someone to point to the right path.

I dont know why it took this long but this is my goodbye to some of the people i call friends. They have been really dear to me in more ways than one and they're leaving, some to perth and others to where God may lead.

My other housemate. I know i was so busy on your last sem in curtin and we didn't go dinner as usual but you have been fun. Not the cleanest but it doesn't matter. All the best with your job. I'm sure going to miss your singing and the dota :) This is probably the only picture i have of him and he's asking amy to help him out with something.

I'm going to miss you, even though we didnt spend a lot of time together but you're quite entertaining...facial expressions and all and i delight in making you feel less important. You're the best. Its so sad you all are going away but hope to see you again some time. We share some things in common and it was good to have worked with you and have you to be there through my rocky moments. As much as i love being in kuching you guys are part of the reason i miss miri and it sucks when you all have to go back but wtd?
