iccf retreat
The iccf in Inti organised this and invited us {the Nigerians who makes noise on wednesdays} to come but alot of people had classes so they were not able to attend. So i went lo. Dont have class :-D Well if you notice i call the cf iccf because its made up of two christian groups that decided it was best if they came together and became one. So the catholic youth fellowship and the Inti Christian Fellowship became ICCF {Inti College Christian Fellowship}.
It was more of a leadership retreat where we had alot of fun, there was load of games and we had plenty of time to just relax and chill. The games were designed to build teamwork. For example in one of the games we were given some sticks and a piece of string to make some kind of structure. So we had to decide what to make and how it would look like. There was another game where marbles where put in a bucket of ice water and we were to take out the marbles using our feet.
I dont want to make this a long post but basically what i learned, and was reminded is that in leadership there are ups and downs but even in our downs God's plans and purposes are being perfected. He told paul that "...my strength is made perfect in you weakness..." and i think it was paul telling timothy to "... count it all joy when you fall into diverse temptations for the testing of your faith works patience.." or something to that effect. So its no use complaining and sulking because at the core of who God is is love and he won't let harm come your way. The bible says he made all the delicate inner parts of our bodies and knit us in our mommy's womb and His thoughts towards us are so immeasurable.
Ok where was i? Yeah and i also saw the bond of fellowship between them it was so sweet. And the best part is that they are not perfect, sometimes its hard to get a message across but that, even that was not a barrier, God still moved in the midst of catholics and anglicans and whatever variety of christianity there is today. There's no barrier. We all love the Lord and want to see him move in our school, in the lives of our friends. Thats what we have in common.
For me that was really life changing because we sometimes have preconceived ideas about people and God changed my view in these two days.
I know i said i wouldnt make this a long post but i guess its too late so here are some pictures, hope it compensates :-P
we were greeted my this huge spider
took some pictures together
moved around and found this pretty hibiscus
Built things
the other team's structure looked nicer :P
there was plenty of time to chillout
someone caught a live birdie
celebrated a birthday at 2am
And the retreat ended with washing of feet. Among all we did together this to me was the most symbolic, pius shared that in the time of Jesus this task was only done by servants, servants yet Jesus did it for his disciples. No wonder peter didnt want Jesus to wash his feet but like Jesus said it speaks of acceptance. If I dont wash you feet then you dont belong to me. For me it felt like communion not something ordinary.I really thank God for the opportunity to serve and to know these people better. Even though i've probably seen then a thousand times in school but this time was different. Praise God :)

on fire
on fire by switchfoot (beautiful letdown)
They tell you where you need to go
They tell you when you'll need to leave
They tell you what you need to know
Tell you who you need to be
But everything inside you knows
There's more than what you've heard
Theres so much more than empty conversations
Filled with empty words
And you're on fire
When He's near you
You're on fire
When He speaks
You're on fire
Burning at these mysteries
Give me one more time around
Give me one more chance to see.. Yeah
Give me everything You are
Give me one more chance to be... (near You) Ah-yeah
What everything inside me looks like
Everything I hate
You are the hope I have for change
You are the only chance I'll take
When I'm on fire (fire)
When You're near me
I'm on fire (fire)
When You speak
And I'm on fire (fire)
Burning at these mysteries
these mysteries...
Mysteries... Mysteries...
(Your on fire, [x3]) I'm standing on the edge of me [x4]
I'm standing on the edge of everything I've never been before
and I've been standing on the edge of me,
I'm standing on the edge.
And I'm on fire
When You're near me
I'm on fire
When You speak
..Yea.. I'm on fire
Burning at these mysteries...
these mysteries(2x),
yeah your mystery, your mystery
Behind the Song:
"Daniel Heavenward, a friend of mine from Canada, came out to California and stayed at my place for a day. We went out for pizza, wrote a couple Remy Zero-ish songs, and called it a night. In the morning, about an hour before I was going to drop him off at the train station, this song flew out. We threw it down, I burned a CD for Dan and we raced to the station. This song is so personal- it feels great to play live. On a good night, I feel like I can just throw myself into this song and drift off over the crowd through the PA." - Jon Foreman (Switchfoot)
I'll post about my weekend some other time

kingdom knights
Today we had the prayer meeting in inti and basically we were praying against controlling spirits in the college, it was warfare, was really loud and powerful. Then i remembered Ephesians 6 from 10.
The whole armour of God
A final word: Be strong in with the Lord's mighty power. {I've been hearing variations of these lately}. Put on all of God's armour so that you will be able to stand firm against ALL strategies and tricks of the Devil. For we are not fighting against flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms. {Basically the devil hates your guts if you're a christian; I am an enemy of satan}
Use every piece of God's armour to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armour of righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that you will be fully prepared.
In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by satan. Put on salvation as your helmet, take the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. Pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all christians everywhere. {Emphasis mine}
The word of God is so refreshing, but as i look at this and compare my life, alot of these element are either missing or not fully utilised and i dont like that. This also reminds me of knights because every aspect of a knights suit is described here. Kind of like this guy standing in the picture.
The picture helps me evaluate myself if any part of the armour is lacking, or need to be fixed or something. And finally i would like to close with a quote i found on someone's blogEven small people cast giant shadows if the time is right~shalom~

my mothers' day
Its not easy being the first child, there's alot of responsibility and sometimes it can get overwhelming. But i believe there's nothing that is impossible, i believe in small beginnings and i believe there's a God who's a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. I believe He will supply ALL my needs according to His riches in glory and whatever i lay my hands to do shall prosper because you know what God is faithful and thats one thing that will ALWAYS be constant in all our lives.
Spent part of the evening cutting down some of the trees around the house with moyin. My landlady suddenly appeared and gave us work to do. She's a nice lady la and i feel she's quite lonely so she numbs out by occupying herself with alot of activities. I always feel like i want to help her in some way. Her children are all over the world and she lives all alone, being a widow and all.
After all the work she invited me to have dinner at her house. If its food i'm there especially as i was feeling too lazy to go to an atm so i can buy some food. Her house is full of flowers and documents; letters, bills, the works almost like a warehouse for storing old papers. Everywhere is stuffed with stuff, even the fridge is full of foodstuff. But it was good. We had chicken rice with alot of chicken. Apperently like me, she likes meat :D
Like pastor was sharing today about the acts of different ones in bethany, i was just reminded of alot of things and by God's grace everyday we grow to become more like Him in everyway. And indeed we can serve God and others in little ways like just being a listening ear or a safe place where friends can come and not feel threatened or intimidated. I was really blessed today.

who am i?
In the last post i shared that i was reading a book and who we are in Christ is at the core of the book, here are a few things;
I am the salt of the earth (matt 5:13)
I am the light of the world (matt 5:14)
I am a child of God (John 1:12)
I am part of the true vine, a channel of Christ's life (John 15:1,5)
I am Christ's friend (John 15:15)
I am chosen and appointed by Christ to bear His fruit (John 15:16)
I am a slave of righteousness (Rom 6:18)
I am enslaved to God (Rom 6:22)
I am a son of God; God is spiritually my father (Rom 8:14, 15; Gal 3:26,4:6)
I am a joint heir with Christ, sharing His inheritance with Him (Rom 8:17)
I am a temple - a dwelling place - of God. His spirit and His life dwell in me (1 cor 3:16; 6:19)
I am united to the Lord and am one spirit with Him (1 cor 6:17)
I am a member of Christ's Body (1 cor 12:27; Eph 5:30)
I am a new creation (2 cor 5:17)
I am reconciled to God and am a minister of reconciliation (2 cor 5:18,19)

I am an heir of God since I am a son of God (Gal 4:6,7)
I am a saint (1 cor 1:2; Eph 1:1; Phil 1:1; Col 1:2)
I am God's workmanship - His handiwork - born anew in Christ to do His work (Eph 2:10)
I am a fellow citizen with the rest of God's family (Eph 2:19)
I am a prisoner of Christ (Eph 3:1; 4:1)
I am a righteous and holy (Eph 4:24)
I am a citizen of heaven, seated in heaven right now (Eph 2:6; Phil 3:20)
I am hidden with Christ in God (Col 3:3)
I am an expression of the life of Christ because He is my life (Col 3:4)
I am chosen of God, holy and dearly loved (Col 3:12; 1 Thess 1:4)
I am a son of light and not of darkness (1 Thess 5:5)
I am a holy partaker of a heavenly calling (Heb 3:1)
I am a partaker of a heavenly calling (Heb 3:14)
I am one of God's living stones, being built up in Christ as a spiritual house (1 pet 2:5)
I am a member of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession (1 pet 2:9,10)
I am an alien and stranger to this world in which I temporarily live (1 pet 2:11)
I am an enemy of the devil (1 pet 5:8)
I am a child of God, and the evil one - the devil - cannot touch me (1 John 5:18)
I am not the great "I am" (Exo 3:14; John 8:24, 28,58), but by the grace of God, I am what I am (1 cor 15:10)
See yourself as God sees you. Its liberating :)

backslidden
I'm reading a book and something the author said caught my attention, he said "...next to the Holy Spirit, the greatest power you possess is the power to choose. You can choose to read your bible daily, or not you can choose to pray or not to pray..." Here's some more
If you are not in daily prayer; if you are not regularly fasting; if you are not actively and practically seeking to know God - then I imagine that you are backslidden. Backslidden from your invitation of intimacy, nobility and power.
Its easy to get caught up in alot of activities but what really matters, and this is especially for me is how well I know Jesus and what i'm doing with the talents, gifts and time that i have. There are 100 other things I would rather do than pray, fast and read the Bible. But I have committed to do them. I force myself into these disciplines when I don’t want to because I know, that through them I will find encounter. I am working out my salvation in partnership with the Holy Spirit.
The lifestyle practices of prayer, managing my time and money, making a covenant with my eyes and bridling my tongue do not earn me the anointing. Rather, they are preparing me for when the anointing comes. So when God wants to meet me in a new way, I am where He wants me and I don’t miss the move of God in this generation.
Of course God NEVER condemns, but its good to be reminded from time to time that we are here on assignment, there's more to this life than just living.
Read the complete post here.

spiderman 3
Finally i get to watch the movie and see what the fuss was about. I read a review this afternoon that didnt give the movie alot of props and i think whoever wrote that review is just sad and needs a life.So even though we had to settle for the third row, far side seat {my neck still hurts} we got through the ads for transformers and next, two potentially great movies although i think next is find of a mix between minority report and deja vu with a nicolas cage persona and of course the cute little yellow duckies that made two new friends, and reminds you you made the right choice for choosing digi and who can forget old man colonel; finger lickin good he says, the world of advertising.
Ok now to the movie, so peter starts of walking on cloud 9, everybody loves me he says and right he was, everything was going well for him, mj had this job that reminded me of the times i used to watch tnt classic movies, the symphony :sigh: all the memories. Everything was perfect although i must say her voice wasnt that good. But soon the action commenced, harry was still mad about his dad, "...avenge me!" and took it out on poor unsuspecting peter, the aero display what impressive but anger makes you stupid and harry had a hard fall that landed him in the hospital with temporary amnesia {how convinient}, since he couldnt remember, peter took advantage of it and got his old buddy back but bad habits die hard.
I always try not to give too much away so in summary, harry died for his friend and sand man is really cool. Oh and i like the way they stuck with the cartoon series in getting rid of the black suit, i thought that was nice. I like the black suit though, looks nice :D
And the ending was just so touching, i almost cried, reconciliation. I think God is trying to tell me something about reconciliation, maybe i need to be more attentive.
Overall i'll give it a 4/5, nothing's perfect in this world :P

super free, bored... oh and ah bored!
Given that i would be out of any compulsory educational engagement for quite some time, i'm starting to feel bored and lazy and every other feeling you feel when you're on holidays. Its been unofficially two weeks and i have till september before University intakes open and the journey continues.
I need to engage myself in some meaningful activity or like my mom used to say, i'll forget how to spell my own name. Any ideas? I'm open to ideas.
On the other hand, i now have time to do alot of things i wanted to do like playing around with the way this blog looks and trying out a few software i wanted to.
In other unrelated news, whats the deal with spiderman 3. I heard its very difficult to get tickets with people booking days in advance. Do we need more cinemas?

why i blog
I've been through the phase of seeking comments and just like the days of email when you feel bad when no one emails, i used to feel bad when there was no comments but you know its not about the comments anymore.
There's more satisfaction in just sitting here, with the fan blowing on one side and the bright flourescent light illuminating my room and typing my thoughts down. I'm more satisfied knowing that my life is not wasted on regrets on things i didnt do or didnt say, i guess i blog because i need to connect, somehow. :)
Its nice to see that more and more people are blogging now, i remember the time when people asked me, why anyone would want to expose their lives for the world to read yet we all have needs now dont we?
