draw me near

Just a quick update. School is going on quite ok, i still need to submit my school applications as soon as i can before i call my father. I dont want to sound like i'm not planning or anything, that wouldnt do.

Having tests all this week, the last one should be over by tomorrow, thats going to be interesting but i'm quite confident la. My first test wasnt too bad although i'm yet to see the result, i think i did well despite some mistakes i only noticed when i thought about the questions again a few days ago. The thing with programming and the different languages is the syntax is changing and you must adapt to it. But i enjoy it, its like playing chess. I haven't started anything on my project yet, still dragging my feet.

Chinese New Year is almost here. I'm not sure but i might be visiting a few houses this year, lets hope all goes well. This might well me my last CNY in kuching, by God's grace before the end of the year i'll be somewhere else. Where? I'm sure yet. It all depends on the response response i get from the schools i'm applying to, but by God's grace i wont have to leave Sarawak.

A lot of people leaving this year, i guess its the sending out year :) its kind of sad but thats life, people come and go and the only permanent thing is the love of God for our lives, He is the lover of our soul.

Finally, a song;

Lord I come to You
Let my heart be changed, renewed
Flowing from the grace
That I found in You.

And Lord I've come to know
The weaknesses I see in me
Will be stripped away
By the power of Your love.

Hold me close
Let Your love surround me
Bring me near
Draw me to Your side.

And as I wait
I'll rise up like the eagle
And I will soar with You
Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love.

Lord unveil my eyes
Let me see You face to face
The knowledge of Your love
As You live in me.

Lord renew my mind
As Your will unfolds in my eyes
In living every day
by the power of Your love.

This song made some sense to me a few weeks ago, of course the lyrics are powerful, and i know what it means but i got a personal understanding of it and i find that to be rather profound. I won't try to analyse each line of this beautiful song but i just want to point out something here.

Hold me close
Let Your love surround me
Bring me near
Draw me to Your side

What i see here at states we can be in, i was very encouraged when this was revealed to me. We cry out hold me close because he's near, and we're near but what about times when we are afar off? We ask him to draw us to his side, bring us near to him again. It doesnt matter where we're at, he's hands are always open wide to receive his children. ...Whoever comes to me, i will not cast away... thats an absolute promise, but we must come.

traffic light

So we were going back home and came to the traffic light going near MD motors and it was chaos, the intersection was grid-locked and the rain was coming down gently, the traffic lights were not working. There we were in the van talking, if this was Nigeria, there would be someone orgnising the people, even if there was no one, there would be some kind of movement as everyone would try to navigate the impossible intersection and gain right of way. Well nothing was happening so someone, i think it was Christian who suggested that Valentine go and channed the traffic so we could go.

It started like a joke, we said he could come out in the papers, just like pastor. You see pastor was sharing a story of how when courts mammoth was opening, the number of people who turned up were like 2000, people all the way from Sibu came to form lines to get 28" tv's and other household stuff for a bargain. He and aunty mei were in the line they got up about 6am just to get some stuff and there was this old man who was limping and he said he felt sorry for this old man but was reluctant to leave is line, and this old man kept on limping towards the road, but he could take it anymore so he phoned aunty mei who was a few people in front of him and they went to this man, who was trampled by the people and broke his leg, by the middle of road and took him to the hospital. He was sharing that he came out on the papers for helping this man so we were encouraging Valentine to go help, half doubting if he would or could.

But he went anyway and it was apperent that he couldnt handle the cars alone so prince and Godswill {he's new} came up and helped him. They did a very good job, and before you know they got things into order. People were appreciative, some said thank you, some just hunked but no one gave us money! hehe just joking, but in Nigeria i'm sure someone would have given money, i guess malaysians are not like that. Anyway money was not the motivation.

They took charge of the traffic until the traffic people took over and we could go home. Its nice to see something positive come out from the Nigerian community in Kuching, alot of negative things have happened in the past but that was the past and things are changing, i just hope this kind of thing continues, not the blackout but the positive contribution to kuching and sarawak and indeed malaysian by foreigners.

We thank God la. :)

new challenges

New year, new challenges.
I find myself in a position where there alot of demands, things i'm not used to, new experiences and roles, new kind of worries. Adult worries.

My main worry now is my project, i need to submit something that would be approved so i can go ahead and start something. My first proposal was rejected and its really difficult to think of something, i've been just pacing around trying to come up with a problem i can provide a solution to, something that has not been done before yet is not so simple. Its hard, i'm struggling.

And then there's the transfer thing, i've not submitted my application yet because of the project thing, its just delaying everything. I feel very worried and pressure is building. Guess school is in full swing. I dont want to get B-U-S-Y. You know pastor said something very profound on sunday and its the first time i'm hearing it this way.

B-ound
U-nder
S-atan's
Y-oke

Its really a yoke, takes away joy and strangles. I can really relate to it, i know last time i was really, there was no time for people or other things it just drained me of my strength and i had to force joy.

But its well. I've been listening to Jeremy Camp alot lately, dunno why. I guess i like the rock-y style, and the lyrics are so real like this one.

Everytime
I spin around, I can hardly see
To catch a glimpse of this moment

I hear the sound of this simple plea
To wait at the feet of your love

Every time I'm on my knees
Pleading for your strength
I will find you there, find you there

Every time I'm on my knees
Reaching for your strength
I will find you there, find you there

To feel the crown of the one I have breathed for
To know the door it will never be broken

Cos I have found that time this time
Has no hold on the rate
That I need you
And I know it's never hard to find you

I'm holding on to this hope
I've been given to be always with you
I'm seeing now
That this fullness of faith is always seeking you

It is well with my soul

2006 part2

I hope i dont repeat myself. So this is what 2007 looks like? Well still in a thankful mood, i'll like to thank God for his faithfulness, and fred was right nothing we do would make God love us less or more he just loves us. That's reassuring!

Just some things i missed while sharing, i would like to thank God for the opportunity to jalan jalan a bit in 2006, dunno if i would have such a priviledge this year. Got a letter from my mom through prince she merely echoed what i've been feeling about this year being a year of perfection and blessings.

Still i would like to thank God for his protection, my father missed a tragic plane crash in 2006, its really God's protection that he's alive. Even for my health, i've not really gone to the hospital for anything, maybe just a few times to see friends. My health has been really good, i get the occasional flu and headaches but nothing beyond that.

Moving on, as pastor read from ephesians
  • we are blessed,
  • we are chosen {this is very reassuring, it takes care of the feeling of inadequacy and grace}
  • we are predestined.

I've thought about what it means to be predestined and well its quite tricky and has the potential to change the way we think either for the better or for worse. But we have been predestined to be blessed. No choice one!

So now with all these promises and assurance, there's really no excuse to live out loud, and shine your light and let the whole world see the glory of our risen King. Remembering
  • Talents
  • Treasures
  • Time
