one of those blessings

One the blessings that I can say I enjoy is the opportunity to serve with the people in Bethany and everytime I come back to Kuching, its another opportunity. Back in Miri at least I have the excuse of school and VCF but not so here since everytime I'm here, I'm on break.

I've been blessed to be part of the ReadingBus trips to various kampungs (villages) around Kuching, teaching kids how to read and now with the Rural Children's Church Programme there's another opportunity to give, to bless the kids with all that we have been blessed with.

Starting off with Kampung Karu where I'm amazed how well the kids can read. Some don't actually understand what they're reading but atleast they know the words. The last trip challenged my perception of people. I talked to a kid who was shy and didn't speak loud enough and I asked him if he could read and he didn't say anything, just the typical shy smile. So I asked him to read and was taken aback when he could confidently read words 10 to 12 lettters long. Sometimes our ideas of people are totally wrong.

Its nice to see the ReadingBus grow from one Kampung in Kuching to many Kampungs in Miri, Sabah and other parts of Malaysia. I hope that you can be a part of something great where ever you are.
