what is your worth

Let me ask some questions, what is your worth in the sight of God? Are you able to accept yourself with your deprevations, shortcomings, quirkiness?

I just listened to one of Dr. Ravi Zacharias' messages, and it has really blessed me so much that i must share it even though i was reading for my mock test tomorrow i feel i really need to share this because in many ways, at many times i tend to blend in and its dangerous because i leave who i'm suppose to be and be someone else that God does not endorse therefore he cannot use me for anything.

I will post a link to the messages soon but before that, a few points i would like to note here:

  • Who I am should preceed what i do.
  • When your life lacks focus, your death will lack focus too.
  • If you dont set your boundaries by God's parameters, who's parameters will you use?
  • Life does not only need starting power, it also needs staying power.
And i pray this will be a blessing to you as you listen and meditate on it. Some people's lives are put before us to show us what is wrong and give us a clear idea of what is right, and the life of Saul is one of them. I dont want my life to be like that, so my prayer today is for God to change me to be more like Joseph who feared sin and not just the consequences of getting caught.

A life that lost its focus: Saul (part 1 of 2)

cf conference lundu

I want to start by thanking God for the opportunity to go for this conference, its been a blessing to me. One thing i prayed for before i left was for God to change my life through this conference and i'm glad for everything that happened.

The sessions were great, everyone got started with a game, some around looking for bugs and leaves. I guess thats the whole game thing but i'm not sure because i wasnt in any group. Yeah the sessions were great, ps Ryan shared on influences and making a decision to stand for Jesus in our generation. He also shared about David and Goliath and how David overcame Goliath but one thing new i got from this all so popular story is that Goliath was a champion that never won a battle. That really touched me, and i just thought for a while, is that how i want my life to be? Certainly not! There are alot of things about my life that God has revealed to me and it really up to me to make a stand and live it out.

The camp was certainly fun, we had a chance to play in the cold water. I could feel my body shaking while i was in there, but it was fun. Straight after that we played football, ps Ryan, Kevin, and Raymond joined in but we managed to lose against Joseph and his gang of good players, but it was fun.

The worship was great, Kevin sang one of his songs, constant. I could post the lyrics here but i dont have them at the moment but its really meaningful especially the second chorus

...lifting my hands to worship you
exchanging my all for all of you
You are the same, You never change
You are the constant of my heart/life Jesus

And the song free always got me to my feet even though i needed to change the slides so everyone can follow.

And then there were this bunch of form 6 girls who kept screaming my name, my goodness. I felt so embarrassed, carol and the rest. But they mean well. A few of them came to the camp admitting worshiping and praising God are all new stuff to them, and some left with Jesus in their hearts, thats rewarding. So all the mosquito bites and erratic sleeping patterns were not in vain. Praise God la.

If there's one thing i would take away from the camp its this: God gives his 100% to us, isn't it fair if we give our 100% for him? There are volumes of truth in that one sentence for christ demonstrated his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Another place says it pleased him to smite his son. Imagine that, for God to smite his own son so that I can have a place in his family, thats awesome to me.

300

I just watched 300, and i must say its quite violent so if you dont like to see blood and people's head being chopped of you might want to watch something else.

I liked a few things about the movie: The first one is the way the temple priests, i forgot their name, were so easily bribed to influence their decision. Since the spartans depended on these creatures that were described as more creatures than humans, it was crucial that the counsel of these priest be unbiased and fortright for the good of the empire but no, they were evil, and evil never did good even for one day. So it was interesting to see this being exposed.

Another thing i liked about the movie is the resolve of King Leonidas to go against cultural and social norms and traditions to do the right thing. And even though the perished in battle their effort was not in vain and because of them the full strength of the spartan army was release to fight the persians. I can see that as kind of like an encouragement to me to go against norms, its like what paul said, be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

The ways of God are opposite to the ways of the world, so like i used to think, its easy to know the ways of God just take the opposite of the world and presto but its not so clear cut, the will of God is spelt out in the bible and only through daily converse do we get to know and accept what is written.

The movie talks about sacrifice, loyalty, paying the price, bravery and endurance in the face of impossibility and so i'll give it an 8/10. Watch it but see beyond what is being shown.
