ditching grace

Was reading about faith and grace in my bible and came to this scary point.

God's grace can be resisted (Hebrew 12.15), received in vain (2 Corinthians 6.1), put out (1 Thess. 5.19), set aside (Galatians 2.21) and abandoned by the believer (Galatians 5.4).

thy word

One of the things i'm forever grateful for is access to good sermons. Sometimes i just don't feel like i want to read the bible. Sometimes i get angry, sometimes i doubt. In those times when my faith is shaky i can sense a longing for the word.

The bible says the word of God is truth and life. And for those who have put their faith in God, that life is everlasting. More than just knowing the truth, there's also the need to remember it. It gets so familiar that we realise how much we have forgotten when we try to explain it to someone who has no clue.

These are interesting times. Let encourage one another in love and purity not forsaking the gathering of ourselves for His sake. And guarding the mind. Someone said the mind is to the soul what the brain is to the body. And so whatever is noble, pure, is of good report... think of these things. And let the peace of God guard our hearts and minds.

i get lost

Reblogged from kimberly because i like it so much and its true :)

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I am saved"
I'm whispering "I get lost!"
"That is why I chose this way."

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need someone to be my guide.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
and pray for strength to carry on.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
and cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
my flaws are too visible
but God believes I'm worth it.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartaches
which is why I seek His name.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I do not wish to judge.
I have no authority.
I only know I'm loved.

420

This post could have started a lot differently. Sometimes i just come here and write stuff then half way delete it all.

The choices we make define us, family or job, career or church, they're not the easiest and it takes wisdom to consistently make the right choices. Sometimes we make a terrible choice and bear the consequences of our poor judgement but in the end they are ours to make. And whether good or bad, we have to make them and of course be prepared for what comes next.

On an unrelated note, happy independence day to all nigerians. Proud 49, we have come a long way but the journey continues.

This has been post #419+1, funny huh, numbers.
